Lord of the Flies is written by a British writer and the winner of the Nobel Prize for literature.Golding#8217;s novel Lord Of The Flies has long helds the world fame since the day it was born.The studies of it has never been stopped.It seems to be his most successful one.It is an important philosophical novel. The book explores the serious topic of evil human nature by describing the children#8217;s innocence. In the story, Golding puts those children in an isolated island, which is far away from the civilization world and without adults#8217; control. The evil nature of human beings are explored in the children without the rule of civilization. Children#8217;s changing from good to evil, is actually the outbreak of the primitive wildness.The purpose of the paper is to warn human beings to watch out for the darkness of one#8217;s heart, as well as to arouse a better understanding of their own and their human nature. At the same time, it also aims to call for the kindness and justice that should be carried forward forever and appeal to people to think about the future civilization of human.
2. 研究内容和预期目标
This paper mainly analyses children#8217;s change from good to evil and stresses on the evil human nature by analysing their psychology and behavior and the use of unique symbolism.We could find out people#8217;s wandering between good and evil. Through analysis, we hope we could figure out the defects of human themselves, and expose the reasons and results.

Golding#8217;s novel Lord Of The Flies has long helds the world fame since the day it was born.The studies of it has never been stopped.It seems to his most successful one.It is equally brilliance as invention and narratio. The brilliance of Lord Of The Flies can scarcely be exaggerated, and horrific as it is, it cannot be dismissed, merely as a horror-comic of high literary merit. As a #8220;sick#8221; comment on RM.Ballantyne#8217;s nineteen-century view on the nature of British boyhood. The fact is its apprehension of evil is such that it touches the nerve of contemporary horror as no English novel of its time has done, it takes us with the greatest dramatic power and through the most poignant symbolism, into a world of active, proliferating evil which is seen, one feels , as the natural condition of man and which is bound to remind us of the vilest manifestation of Nazi regression.
Mostly, the novel has been studied in the respect of human nature.
Walter Allen, in his book The Modern Novel has the idea that in this novel Golding is showing us stripped man, man naked of all the sanctions of all the custom and civilization, man as he is alone and in his essence, or at any rate as he can be conceived in such condition. The whole book is based on the concept of original sin, of the horrifying thinness of civilization, of the fragile barriers that lies between man and regression into barbarism and chaos. He uses his great gift of imagination and narrative to accept, as part of the truth about man and his nature, the realities summoned up in our time in the hysterical nastiness of Nazism and concentration camp. These, for many of us, remain the most baffling phenomena of our century, the brutally ugly fact it is impossible to be reconciled to but yet has to be faced. There is, however a danger here : the acceptance of the evil displaced in the phenomena as being the fundamental truth about man. It is , it seems to me , a danger most carefully to be guarded against .I am bound to say that for me the general effect of Golding#8217;s novels suggests that he has not done so ,The very intransigence of his work compels the protest against it.

2022.10.26~2022.10.30: receiving the notice that informs me of setting my direction of witting-Linguistics.
2022.11.1~2022.11.23: finding and defining my thesis, drafting a preliminary bibliography, according the bibliography decide the title-Investigating Humor from Cooperative Principle, and outlining the thesis.
2022. 12.1~2022.1.1: preparing the thesis proposal, writing literature reviews, thinking about the significance of this thesis, and making a list of work plan.
2022.1.19~2022.3.19: writing first draft which includes adopting diachronic research and literature analysis in order to review the superiorities and shortcomings of various theories of humor, and analyzing how humor is produced by violating CP, the effects of CP violation on humor, and comparing the effects from four maxims. The research method of this paper includes comparative, analysis, exemplification and so on.
2022.4.21~2022.5.6: revising the first draft again and again, at least for three times, and handing in weekly reports.
